2020 Houksa Prize Review

Award ceremony on 24 September 2020

Austria’s top research projects were honoured on 24 September 2020 with the acclaimed Houska Prize from the B&C Private Foundation. From a longlist of 60 submissions, a high-calibre expert jury selected the winning projects in two categories – Higher Education Research and Research & Development in SMEs – in a two-stage process. The winner of the audience prize was chosen in an online poll of all the nominated projects. Guest speaker at the Houska Talk was the top international economist Prof. Hans-Werner Sinn, who gave a talk entitled Green Deal – Vision and the ‘Whatever-it-takes’ Reality.

TU Graz and MacroArray Diagnostics win the 2020 Houska Prize

In the Higher Education Research category, Prof. Harald Plank from the Institute of Electron Microscopy and Nanoanalysis at TU Graz won the main prize for his 3D nanoprinting research project. In the Research & Development in SMEs category, Christian Harwanegg from the Vienna company MacroArray Diagnostics GmbH impressed the expert jury and the members of the advisory committee, taking away the golden Houska Prize trophy for his project Allergy Explorer – the Key to Allergy Diagnoses.
