Sandra Wachter, PhD is a jurist and internationally renowned expert in IT. She will address the question “How intelligent is Artificial Intelligence?” at the Houska Prize 2024 award ceremony. She will give insights on ethical challenges associated with Artificial Intelligence and discuss the balance between technological innovations and ethical principles. The discussion will encompass questions of responsibility and the moral implications of AI decisions, algorithmic bias, as well as profiling. Wachter is a professor of technology and regulation at the Oxford Internet Institute at the University of Oxford. There, she researches the legal and ethical impacts of Artificial Intelligence, Big Data, and Robotics, as well as the regulation of the internet and platforms.
